We have enjoyed a few months of the MLB offseason now, but that doesn’t mean it’s close to over.
To the contrary: there are still big fish available both in the pitching and position player departments.
Blake Snell and Cody Bellinger remain unsigned, just to have some perspective on things.
And, in addition to available free agents, there are also players who could be had via trade.
The Miami Marlins have been really active in trade talks, even though they haven’t made any impactful deals yet.
The whole league has asked them about their pitchers: Jesus Luzardo, Edward Cabrera, Braxton Garrett and others.
They need some power, especially after losing Jorge Soler to free agency.
According to recent reports, however, they might be willing to “sell high” on an important asset if that’s going to bring them a nice haul.
“The Marlins may be willing to entertain offers for Luis Arraez, per @JonHeyman,” B/R Walk-Off tweeted.

Arraez might not be powerful, but he provides offense and has already proven himself on two different franchises belonging to the National and American Leagues.
In 2023 with the Marlins, he took the batting crown with a .354 average in 2023, plus a very nice .861 OPS.
He only hit 10 home runs, but did contribute 30 doubles and is more than just a singles hitter: he rarely strikes out and has unmatched feel for contact.
It’s, however, unlikely he has another season like that, so the Marlins might be throwing his name out there to see what kind of packages they get.
In the end, the likelihood of a trade involving Arraez is very low, but who knows?
Maybe they are blown away by an offer and decide to deal him.
