The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
They’ve won all but one game this season, so one could say that they’re right on track to do so.
However, their ability to pull it off or not will most likely depend on Patrick Mahomes, even though their defense has done most of the heavy lifting so far.
That’s why Mike Sando of The Athletic has some legitimate concerns about this team.
In his latest column, Sando argued that the Chiefs’ inability to protect Mahomes could be their demise.
“Bigger picture, I’m worried about his ability to hold up through the playoffs based on the Chiefs’ ability to protect him and his reliance on scrambling to sustain drives,” Sando wrote.
There are three weeks still to play in the NFL regular season, and the schedule includes more key contests — including two Saturday.
Is there any logical argument to rest Patrick Mahomes? Will the Steelers secure the division title?

The Chiefs have struggled with blindside protection for the entirety of Mahomes’ tenure there.
Those woes haven’t gone away this season.
D.J. Humphries seemed to be a solution at left tackle, but he has been banged up.
Neither Wanya Morris nor Kingsley Suamataia has played well, and with Mahomes already banged up himself, the quarterback might not be able to stay healthy for the entirety of the postseason.
It would be a shame to see their pursuit of history come to an end because of an injury.
Then again, perhaps that could open the door for Carson Wentz to go full circle and pull a Nick Foles for this team, as it would be the same story from the Super Bowl run by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hopefully, the Chiefs won’t have to turn to Wentz, and Mahomes will stay healthy.
