What’s next for Zion Williamson?
The New Orleans Pelicans star is hurt once again and has no timetable for a return following a hamstring injury.
Does that mean the Pelicans are going to move on and leave Williamson behind?
That’s unlikely, according to Shams Charania.
Speaking to Pat McAfee, via NBACentral, Charania shed light on New Orleans’ plans for Williamson:
“Right now, the Pelicans have no intention of waiving Zion Williamson. Their number one objective is to get him back on the court and build the right support around him.”

This has all happened before, and the Pelicans have always stood by Williamson, promising he remains the future of the franchise.
In the past, they have said they were focused solely on getting him healthy and back in games.
They weren’t willing to cut ties with him and move forward without him.
It seems like that is still the truth for the team, and they aren’t looking to leave Williamson.
Unfortunately, it sounds like Williamson won’t be back for quite a while, but that might not really matter at this point.
Because of multiple injuries on the roster, the team has slid down to the 15th spot in the West with a 4-18 record.
Their chances of rebounding from that are growing slim, so Williamson might not want to rush to return.
Instead, he should give up on this season, focus on next year, and do whatever he can to stay healthy.
Since the Pelicans aren’t going to waive him or give up on him, Williamson should take his time and heal the right way, knowing he still has a home in New Orleans.
