When it rains, it pours for the New York Jets.
Just when they thought they would finally get over the hump, their season got off to the rockiest start they could ever imagine.
Aaron Rodgers couldn’t even complete a drive and was carted off the field after just four plays into this new chapter of his career.
Now, NFL insider Ian Rapoport confirmed everybody’s worst fear: Rodgers has suffered an Achilles injury.

This is devastating news, simply brutal.
Rodgers is 39 years old already, and while this won’t necessarily mean he’s going to retire, it’s hard to envision someone coming back from this kind of injury so late in his career.
Even if he were to come back, this injury has robbed us — and the Jets of a year of his career.
The Jets were thinking about Super Bowls and parades, and the whole story has to change now.
HC Robert Saleh stated that the team would turn back to third-year-pro Zach Wilson if Rodgers was indeed out for the season, ruling out any potential trade or move for another QB.
Wilson wasn’t impressive subbing in for Rodgers, but he was capable of moving the chains and at least keeping his team in contention.
This injury also changes the entire picture in the AFC East.
The Miami Dolphins now look like the best team in the division, although the New England Patriots looked much-improved, and the Buffalo Bills will always be a strong candidate, so the Jets now went from frontrunner to likely the bottom of the division.
