Las Vegas Raiders star Brock Bowers is having what is arguably the greatest season by a rookie tight end in NFL history.
Bowers was selected by the Raiders with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which is quite high for a tight end, but one insider recently revealed that another team tried hard to move up for Bowers and snag him before the Raiders had a chance.
“It makes sense why the (Los Angeles) Rams were trying to move up in the draft to grab him. [Les] Snead and [Sean] McVay knew he was a star,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote on X.

It’s not surprising the Rams were interested in Bowers, as they have gotten very little production from the tight end position in 2024.
Tyler Higbee just made his season debut after being injured, and Colby Parkinson had just 29 catches for 288 yards and one touchdown in 15 games filling in for him.
Neither veteran adds much explosiveness to the Rams’ passing attack and doesn’t attract any attention away from star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
The Rams did well for themselves by ultimately selecting defensive end Jared Verse with their first-round pick (No. 19 overall), as he has a chance to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
However, imagining Bowers in McVay’s offense is a lot of fun.
