The Detroit Lions made some serious noise last season.
They proved that they were ready to compete at the highest level vs. legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
They were just half a game away from making it to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
And while HC Dan Campbell’s decision-making left a lot to be desired, this team proved that they’re on the right path.
That’s why signing star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown to a contract extension is pretty much a no-brainer at this point.
Fortunately for them, they might be able to get him locked in for the future at a very reasonable price for today’s standards.
As reported by Dan Graziano of ESPN, both parties are working on a contract extension that could gross the USC product something between $26 million and $28 million per year (via Dov Kleiman).

Considering the uptick in the salary cap and the current market for wide receivers, that could end up being a bargain for the 24-year-old.
Amon-Ra St. Brown has been one of the most underrated, productive, and efficient wide receivers in the game since his rookie season, and he’s the undisputed alpha dog in the passing game there.
The Lions have some solid weapons around him in TE Sam LaPorta and Jameson Williams, and they will look to keep that young core together for years to come.
Now, it’s all about taking another step forward and building from last season’s momentum.
