The main NFL Scouting Combine is on the horizon, but the HBCU Combine is already taking place.
Some intriguing prospects are participating who could help an NFL team.
One such player is Jada Byers, a running back from Virginia Union University.
“Virginia Union RB Jada Byers, who rushed for more than 2000 yards this season, was one of several standouts to showcase themselves at the HBCU Combine today,” Steve Wyche of NFL Network wrote on X.

Byers set Virginia Union’s career record for rushing yards with 5,311 and touchdowns with 70, and he ran for 2,056 yards and 27 touchdowns this season.
He is undersized at 5-foot-7 and 185 pounds but could serve as a change-of-pace running back for an NFL team.
Against Bowie State this season, he exploded for 324 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Granted, Virginia Union doesn’t play against great competition — it is a Division II school in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) — but the best scouts in the NFL take note of promising players from anywhere.
The HBCU Combine has been around since 2021, but if players such as Byers do well in the NFL, it is sure to garner more attention in the years to come.
The NFL Draft represents the manifestation of the hopes and dreams many prospects have had since they were very young.
