The Indianapolis Colts have not made any significant upgrades at wide receiver is offseason, which could be cause for concern.
They’ve acquired star defensive end DeForest Buckner and signed veteran quarterback Philip Rivers as their blockbuster moves thus far.
That doesn’t mean the Colts aren’t going to sign a receiver, but the organization may decide to wait until the NFL Draft before upgrading at the position.
The Colts are reportedly interested in drafting Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims if he’s available at No. 34 during the upcoming draft.
Who is Denzel Mims?
Mims didn’t do much during his first season at Baylor, but quickly became a big deal his Sophomore season.
He finished with 61 receptions, 1,087 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns through 12 games during his second year at Baylor.
He had a bit of a regression his third year when he only hauled in 55 receptions, 794 yards, and eight touchdowns.
But, he finished off strong his senior year.
Mims made sure to finish his college year on a high note at Baylor.
He caught 66 passes for 1,020 yards, with 12 touchdowns during his final 13 games in a Baylor uniform.
His outstanding play in his senior season landed him first-team all-conference honors.

Colts Are Showing Interest in Mims
It’s not surprising that a team in need of wide receiver depth is looking at one of the better receivers in the upcoming draft.
Mims started climbing up draft boards after his outstanding performance during the NFL Combine.
It appears the Colts have conducted a FaceTime interview with Mims, so there is interest from their side.
The Colts need to add depth behind T.Y. Hilton and Mims would be a great option to have on the roster.
He is coming off a fantastic season at Baylor and was impressive during his Combine, but many other organizations noticed that as well.
Indy could have some fierce competition for Mims at the upcoming NFL Draft.
Could Mims Fall to the Colts?
It’s always tough to predict how the draft is going to play out until it actually happens.
The fact the Colts have not added at wide receiver yet means they plan to wait until the draft to address the position.
They’ve already traded their first-round pick in exchange for Buckner earlier this offseason.
The Colts would have to hope that Mims falls to them with the No. 34 pick in the second round.
There’s a chance of that happening, but Mims has peaked the interest of multiple teams after the combine.
Is Mims A Good Fit for Indy?
Mims is someone who looks like a star receiver with his excellent height, weight, and speed.
He is someone every team needs to worry about when the offense gets near the red zone.
Mims has a strong route-running ability and his athletic ability makes him a threat on just about every play.

There’s some areas he needs to work on like his ability to make receptions in traffic.
Mims has plenty of potential and could end up being a reliable option next to Hilton.
The Colts should strongly consider drafting Mims if he does fall to the organization with the No. 34 pick.
