Since purchasing a majority interest in the Charlotte Hornets back in August, new owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin have pointed the franchise in a new direction.
Their changes continued on Thursday morning, as Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Hornets plan to hire Brooklyn Nets executive Jeff Peterson as the team’s next head of basketball operations.
Peterson is seen as someone who can help lead the team in the future and transform it into an Eastern Conference contender.

The owners of the Hornets have met with multiple candidates for this position since announcing that Mitch Kupchak was moving from general manager into an advisory role with the team.
Peterson already had some personal relationships with the team.
He knows Schnall well and worked closely with him when he was the minority owner of the Atlanta Hawks.
Peterson got his start in the NBA as an intern in Atlanta, before moving to the Nets.
He also knows Hornets head coach Steve Clifford, who was a coaching consultant for Brooklyn during the 2021-22 season.
The Hornets have recently been making some important moves that lay the groundwork for a bright future.
Before the trade deadline, they sent away Terry Rozier and P.J. Washington in place of draft assets and young players.
They are hoping to build one of the youngest and most exciting rosters in the league, centered around rookie start Brandon Miller and point guard LaMelo Ball.
The Hornets are also renovating their arena and creating a new practice facility.
The new owners of the Hornets are hoping to start a new chapter and hiring Peterson is a major part of that.
With his expertise, he will be able to bring in new players, form strong relationships with them, and finally allow this team to capitalize on its ample potential.
