The Charlotte Hornets haven’t exactly been the most successful franchise in the league.
That’s why the fans might be thrilled to know that Michael Jordan will no longer be the team’s majority owner.
Jordan was perhaps the greatest player of all time, but not so much as a league executive.
Even so, the team took to Twitter to bid him farewell with a heartfelt message after 13 years in charge of the organization.
Thank you, Michael Jordan, for 13 memorable years. pic.twitter.com/H32InriDRu

Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Hornets led to just two trips to the playoffs, and they were never able to win a single series.
They didn’t exactly strike gold in the NBA Draft either, constantly missing on elite talents and making questionable choices.
Jordan’s time in charge of the team also cost him his friendship with Charles Barkley, who recently opened up on how they stopped talking to each other once Barkley publically said that he was surrounded by too many ‘yes men’ and he wasn’t doing a good job in charge of the team.
But being great at one thing doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to be great at another, and props to Jordan for stepping aside after maximizing the value of the investment he made.
The Hornets have a long road ahead of them to straighten the ship.
At least, they have two potential franchise building blocks in LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, so the future could be quite bright and it might be just a matter of time before they get over the hump once and for all.
