Last year at the trade deadline, the New York Yankees made a last-minute deal with the St. Louis Cardinals to acquire Harrison Bader in exchange for Jordan Montgomery.
Bader was still recovering from an injury at the time.
But upon his return, he became a spark-plug for the Yanks.
The former Gold Glove Award winner began to hit like he never had before and since then, he has proven to be a cornerstone in New York’s lineup.
On Twitter, a Yankees fan tweeted some important stats which show just how well Bader has performed since joining the Yankees last August.
Harrison Bader as a Yankee (including postseason):
• .307/.355/.584
• .939 OPS
• 7 HR
• 23 RBI pic.twitter.com/NCAvuoSxV9— YankeesMuse (@YankeesMuse) May 10, 2023
This includes both regular season and postseason stats.
The former Gold Glove center fielder is slashing .307/.355/.584 since joining the Yankees.
He also has an OPS of .939, seven home runs, and 23 RBI.
Bader also bring elite defense and speed to the Yankees lineup.
The 28-year-old was one of five Cardinals to win Gold Gloves in 2021, joining Paul Goldschmidt, Tommy Edman, Nolan Arenado, and Tyler O’Neill.
He hit five home runs last year during the postseason and helped guide the Yankees to their first ALCS appearance since 2019.
So far, the deal to acquire Bader from St. Louis has clearly paid dividends for the Yankees.
The young speedster began the 2023 season on the injured list with an oblique issue.
Since his return, he is hitting .440 with two home runs and eight RBI and has an OPS of 1.302.
He picked up three hits on Tuesday night against the woeful Oakland Athletics as the Yankees won, 10-5.
