The Baltimore Orioles‘ surprise season has been buoyed by the contributions of young stars such as Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle, Cedric Mullins, and Anthony Santander.
But there is yet another young stud who is making his mark with the team, that being 21-year-old second baseman Gunnar Henderson.
Henderson was called up to the Orioles in late August just before rosters expanded.
Since then, he’s been providing this young Orioles team with a spark.
In fact, in his first 50 plate appearances, he has posted an impressive .304/.360/.457 slash line, a 135 wRC+, has homered once, walked four times, and struck out only 11 times.

Henderson Raking In First MLB Stint
Henderson has been exactly what the Orioles wanted.
Since coming up to the big leagues, he has been a godsend for this team.
He’s getting on base, he’s swinging a hot bat, and he’s become just the latest young stud on the Orioles roster to make his presence felt.
It’s been a year full of pleasant surprises for this Orioles ballclub that lost 110 games last season.
Though their playoff promise has begun to slip away somewhat, Henderson and the rest of the young studs have still been providing Orioles fans with a lot of great moments.
Soon, this will be a very good team that could potentially contend for a World Series.
They may be a year away, but with guys like Henderson making the rounds, there’s a lot to be excited about when concerning the Orioles future.
It may just be 50 plate appearances so far, but Henderson has been exactly what the Orioles needed down the stretch and could be a major key if they start to gain some ground in the Wild Card race.
