Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is a supremely talented basketball player with tons of potential and hopefully a very bright future in the league.
Unfortunately, he has self-sabotaged himself several times and is now facing a lengthy suspension.
Because of another live stream featuring him brandishing a gun, Morant will miss the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season.
However, according to Tim MacMahon, Morant will still stay close to the team during that time.
MacMahon reported that Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman says Morant will be able to practice and travel with the team during his suspension from the league.
“I think it’s great for Ja, and it’s great for our group,” Kleiman said.

It is certainly good news that Morant will remain with the team during his time off the court.
Being able to practice and travel with the team will keep the Grizzlies’ camaraderie alive and well even though Morant cannot participate in games.
Together, they can formulate a gameplan for the entire season and when Morant is able to play again, he could easily slip back into the rotation.
Since joining the Grizzlies, Morant has been a big part of the team in many ways.
Not only is he their lead player and biggest star, but he is also a vital part of the team’s culture.
However, Memphis’ front office wants to change that culture and make it healthier and better for the players, especially Morant.
This move will allow him to be part of the team’s transformation.
Even without their popular guard for 25 games, the Grizzlies are still positioned to do very well in the West.
Morant won’t be playing with them for a while but he will remain close.
