Shohei Ohtani can do absolutely anything and everything when it comes to baseball.
The Los Angeles Angels superstar is a rare breed of player, as he can pitch and hit, which effectively makes him a two-way player, in baseball terms.
Not since Babe Ruth have we seen anything like this and it’s something that we may never see again when Ohtani’s career is over.
He’s put together a solid season on the mound and is following up his MVP season from a year ago with yet another offensive surge.
But if you look at the team leaders in every major category for the Angels for pitching and hitting, you’ll see one constant, that being Ohtani himself.

A One-Man Army
In a lot of ways, Ohtani has become a one-man band with the Angels.
His supporting cast has fallen, but he hasn’t.
He’s been the one carrying the Angels through this dreadful season, a season in which they started out hot and ultimately faded into obscurity when they began losing games.
As has been constantly stated, Ohtani has been the one and only saving grace for the Angels.
Mike Trout has certainly put up some good numbers, but Ohtani has been the one guy that has remained healthy through the entire season and has put the team on his back.
There’s only so much he can do, but he’s at least given Angels fans something to cheer about in the midst of such a rocky season.
Beyond that, the fact that he’s leading in every major category in terms of hitting and pitching is quite remarkable, but it also goes to show how the Angels have fallen apart this season.
