After a successful career with the Tennessee Titans, Derrick Henry is moving on as he signed with the Baltimore Ravens in free agency.
Henry signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Ravens to give them what looks like the most devastating running game in the league.
With Lamar Jackson under center and Henry in the backfield, opposing teams are going to have headaches trying to defend Baltimore’s rushing attack.
Normally, running backs start to slow down around Henry’s age but he hasn’t shown many signs of decline despite all the miles on his body.
Henry is a physical marvel that can break tackles and create yards after contact, making him an ideal player to hand off to on early downs.
Since 2019, Henry has the most rushing yards after contact among all running backs via PFF.

As the graphic shows, Henry’s best season came in 2020 when he rushed for 1,490 yards after contact.
Even in what was considered a down year for him in 2023, Henry still managed to compile 1,257 yards after contact, an impressive feat given how poor Tennessee’s offensive line was.
With the Ravens, Henry should see a similar workload though he might not score as many touchdowns because Jackson is just as big of a threat to keep the football himself.
The Ravens are a tough, physical team that likes to punish opponents up front and Henry fits their team identity perfectly.
There’s every reason to believe that Henry will be just as dominant on his new team in 2024.
