Grant Williams was able to land a big payday to join the Dallas Mavericks this offseason.
However, to say he had a scary incident with Joel Embiid in the playoffs might be an understatement.
Williams was on the wrong end of the reigning MVP’s foot and hit his head on the floor violently.
Fortunately, nothing major happened, and it was just a scare.
In his recent appearance on Tidal League’s Run Your Race podcast (Via Sixerdaily), Williams shed light on what happened, stating that he just dove for the ball, and the next thing he knew, his face was on the ground.

He added that he was lucky that Embiid didn’t land all his weight on his head; otherwise, he could’ve — literally — died.
Williams wanted to be back on the floor and just keep playing, but he obviously couldn’t.
Then, he claims Embiid did the very same thing on another play in the following game, stating that he was ‘falling a lot during that series.’
Williams hints at how the new flopping rule could take a toll on Embiid’s game, citing that he just falls around when he feels contact.
Notably, Embiid has faced plenty of criticism for flopping throughout the course of his career.
More than that, those falls are quite scary and dangerous, and not only for him, so let’s hope he takes them down a notch or two with the new rules in place.
