The New York Giants’ offseason began with a bang as they signed Daniel Jones to a four-year contract extension.
Then, as they were mostly quiet about the situation, they recently signed Saquon Barkley to a one-year deal, a well-regarded move.
If Giants fans weren’t excited enough, Adam Schefter has reported on an additional signing.
According to Schefter via John Thornton, Andrew Thomas has been signed to a five-year, $117.5 million extension.
Left tackle Andrew Thomas and the Giants reached agreement on a 5-year, $117.5 million extension that includes an offensive-line record $67M fully guaranteed at signing, tying him to New York through the 2029 season.@JohnThornton of @RocNationSports confirmed the deal to ESPN. pic.twitter.com/FTHq1VFlfL

Schefter said that this deal includes $67 million guaranteed at the time of signing, a record for an offensive lineman.
The Giants have now constructed three significant deals in the same offseason, something they aren’t used to doing.
However, they are coming off a playoff victory, something the team hadn’t done since the 2011 season.
With their recent success in mind, the Giants appear striking while the iron is still hot.
Will these moves result in a deeper playoff push in 2023?
Jones, by many accounts, took a big step forward in production last year.
If he can continue on that trajectory, the Giants’ offense could be further unlocked, resulting in an improved passing game.
Plus, keeping Barkley and Thomas around certainly can’t hurt, especially since Thomas is tasked with protecting Jones.
Thomas’s current standing with the organization is impressive, especially considering that he struggled in his rookie campaign.
The Giants have recognized his improvements, and this contract lets him know they want him to be a part of their organization for years.
