The New York Giants played themselves out of a franchise quarterback again.
Brian Daboll’s team won a meaningless game down the stretch for the second consecutive season, which hurt their positioning in the NFL Draft.
They were in a position to acquire Jayden Daniels last season and could have landed either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward this season.
To add insult to injury, the quarterback who led them to that win won’t be on the roster next season.
According to a report by Jordan Raanan, the Giants will allow free agents Drew Lock and Tim Boyle to walk away.
Instead, they will bring Tommy DeVito back.
QB Tommy DeVito is an exclusive rights free agent but the Giants plan to bring him back, per sources. Drew Lock and Tim Boyle are set to become free agents.
That is why GM Joe Schoen explained his QB position for next year as, "Tommy is the only quarterback on the roster."

DeVito is an exclusive rights free agent, and the Giants intend to keep him on the roster longer.
The undrafted free agent was a fan favorite during a brief stretch last season, but he’s by no means a starting-caliber quarterback.
Barring a big trade, the Giants won’t be able to get a franchise quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft.
The Daniel Jones debacle was one of the storylines of the season.
They will now be left scrambling to find his replacement via trade or free agency.
For now, the struggling DeVito is their only option at quarterback, which is far from ideal.
The Giants don’t seem to have a plan for the future, and it’s hard to envision this team faring much better next season, especially with Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll still at the helm.
