The New York Giants got blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8 and have given up 71 points over their past five quarters of play.
The regression of the defense, combined with a devastating ankle injury suffered by exciting young running back Cam Skattebo, likely ended any faint hopes the Giants had of making an unexpected run to the playoffs.
That is why one notable defender is beginning to draw interest heading toward the NFL trade deadline.
“Another name to watch on the trade front is Giants [edge rusher] Kayvon Thibodeaux. He’s under contract for another year after this season, but some around the league have wondered whether he’s part of New York’s long-term plans and if he could become available with the Giants sitting at 2-6. Teams are actively exploring the pass-rush trade market, but movement has been slow, in part because there are so many available options,” Jordan Schultz wrote on X.

For a team that already has Brian Burns locked up and used the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Abdul Carter, it’s fair to wonder if Thibodeaux could be expendable for the Giants heading toward a big payday.
What could also make the decision a little easier is the fact that Burns is on pace to threaten the single-season sack record of 22.5, with 10.0 through eight games.
Thibodeaux has just 2.5 sacks, but at 24 years old, he would have no shortage of suitors if the Giants decide to make him available.
This is a new name that could enter the trade deadline mix, and while it would hurt Giants fans to see him go, it makes sense why the team might be interested in making a move.
