The New York Giants need more weapons right now.
Losing star wide receiver Malik Nabers to injury early in the season was a big blow, and even though rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has done a solid job since taking over for Russell Wilson, the Giants lost another key player in Week 8.
Rookie running back Cam Skattebo is out for the season with an ankle injury, and even though Tyrone Tracy Jr. is a solid player, he doesn’t bring the same type of juice and explosiveness.
With that in mind, it’s not a surprise to learn that the Giants are looking at other options for their offense.
“The Giants will have a workout with former [Los Angeles] Chargers WR Jaylen Johnson today. Johnson was a former UDFA of the Chargers in 2024 who appeared in one game, but didn’t record a catch. Johnson was waived at the end of training camp back in August,” Doug Rush wrote on X.

As things stand, the Giants’ wide receivers are Wan’Dale Robinson, Beaux Collins, Darius Slayton, Gunner Olszewski and Jalin Hyatt.
Johnson may not move the needle much for Dart and the passing game, but New York clearly needs to do something to help its rookie QB.
The Giants looked like a team on the rise just a couple of weeks ago, but they collapsed in the fourth quarter against the Denver Broncos in Week 7, then were soundly defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, a loss that also cost them their best offensive weapon.
