The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired a true WR1 in the offseason.
Trading D.K. Metcalf will give whoever is behind center next season a hard-working, workhorse wide receiver and perennial big-play threat.
Needless to say, the prospect of having him lining up opposite George Pickens is a scary thought for other teams in the AFC North Division.
Nevertheless, that might not even happen.
As shown by Dov Kleiman on X, Pickens has unfollowed the Steelers on social media.

Granted, this might not mean anything, and this has now become a common trend in pro sports, but it’s something worth keeping a close eye on nonetheless.
Pickens has been subject to a couple of trade rumors lately.
This isn’t the first time that he has done this kind of thing, and given his volatile character and temper tantrums, it’s far from surprising.
Pickens has shown glimpses of great play, but he’s failed to establish himself as the dominant force he seems capable of being.
Notably, a lot of that has had to do with these sorts of behaviors, as he’s been more busy getting into fights than running routes at times, and he’s also been visibly upset on the sidelines.
The Steelers acquired another bona fide pass-catcher in the offseason, and while it would obviously be better to have both of them wreaking havoc in the open field, perhaps Metcalf’s arrival will make Pickens expendable.
He has all the talent in the world, but he has yet to earn his stripes to be acting like this.
