The Seattle Mariners have been an interesting team to watch as of late.
Though they saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday night, they still are only a half-game behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League.
The Baltimore Orioles pulled out a 1-0 victory over the Mariners on Saturday, but that didn’t take away from what a special night it was for a certain Mariners pitcher.
Young right-hander George Kirby drew the start for Seattle against the O’s and pitched nine scoreless innings.
He allowed just three hits, struck out seven, and didn’t walk a batter.
Even more impressive is the fact that he hit 103 mph on his fastball for his final pitch of the night.
On Twitter, Jon Morosi praised Kirby for his dominance.
George Kirby tonight:
9 innings, 0 runs.
He hit 98 mph on Pitch 103.
An ace among aces. @MLBNetwork @SeattleSports

Morosi referred to Kirby as an ace among aces.
Kirby certainly is an ace.
He lowered his ERA to 3.11 on the season with his dominant performance.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t rewarded with a win.
However, he remains a key member of Seattle’s rotation, one that also features Luis Castillo and Logan Gilbert.
The 25-year-old is 10-8 on the season and has pitched a total of 144.2 innings.
He also has struck out 131 batters and has a WHIP of 1.00 in his 23 starts.
The right-hander made his Major League debut in May of last season and has since been a pillar of stability in Seattle’s rotation.
But he put together a great performance on Saturday and gave the Mariners a chance to win against the best team in the American League.
