For decades, the San Antonio Spurs have been considered one of the model organizations in the NBA because of their consistent success and stability at all levels of the organization.
Head coach Gregg Popovich is widely considered to be one of the best, if not the best, head coach in NBA history and he is currently shepherding the next era of Spurs basketball.
Popovich has overseen great teams thanks to franchise pillars like David Robinson and Tim Duncan and now he gets the opportunity to coach Victor Wembanyama who looks to be the next face of the league.
While San Antonio won’t be competing for titles in the near future, their long-term outlook is encouraging because of Wembanyama and the other young pieces on the roster.
Former head coach and player George Karl is familiar with Popovich and the Spurs and compared the team to the Green Bay Packers via his personal X account.
“I love the Spurs – love that I played for them, that they are the Packers of the NBA, that they’ve had such strong, consistent leadership for so long. If you missed Pop’s words this weekend, you know what I’m talking about,” Karl posted.

Like the Spurs, the Packers have consistently found themselves on the winning end of games more often than not and also boast a solid infrastructure.
The two organizations have found ways to stay competitive throughout the years and a lot of that can be attributed to ownership and a willingness to grow and adapt when needed.
