It’s official: The 2022 Seattle Seahawks are in the playoffs.
Against all odds and just one season after trading Russell Wilson, Geno Smith led Pete Carroll’s team to the promised land after an impressive season.
Smith broke three of Wilson’s records during the win over the Los Angeles Rams: completions (399), completion percentage (69.8%), and passing yards (4,282).

He also earned a $1M incentive with the team reaching the playoffs, and that’s on top of the $1.5M bonus he earned for topping 4,000 passing yards, 20 TD, and making the Pro Bowl.
However, and as much as he appreciates all the extra cash, he’s only thinking about football right now:
“I’m focused on football right now, but, you know, the thing is that it’s a business,” Smith told the Seattle Times postgame. “Football is a business. A lot of people have a lot of decisions to make. That’s where I’ll leave it at. I feel great about where I stand with this organization and my teammates and everybody else, but it’s always — it’s always a business first. So I look at it like that. I understand that, and I have to handle my business as well.”
The Seahawks are now set for a tough date against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
And even though the Niners look like the strongest team in the NFC right now, the 2022 Seahawks have been resilient, hard-fighting, and have beaten the odds almost every time they’ve stepped on the field.
So, stop writing Geno Smith off, you know he’s not going to write back.
