The Los Angeles Rams may no longer have some pieces from their Super Bowl-winning defense, but they shouldn’t be overlooked just yet.
Granted that losing Von Miller, Bobby Wagner, and Jalen Ramsey was a big blow, they still have Aaron Donald wreaking havoc off the line of scrimmage.
Despite his age, Donald continues to be a dominant defensive force in this game, as pointed out by Seattle Seahawks’ QB Geno Smith shouting ‘OH MY GOD’ as soon as he saw No. 99 coming at him (via CJ Zero and Ari Meirov).

Oh my God, indeed, and it’s hard to blame Smith for being afraid for his life.
Imagine a 6-foot-1, 280-pound bulldozer coming at you at full speed, and you’d be on your toes as well.
Donald finished the season opener with two tackles, two assists, and 0.5 sacks on Smith, and it was more than evident that he hasn’t lost a step.
Some thought the future Hall of Famer was on the decline after an injury-riddled season, which saw him finish outside of the top 3 in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting for the first time in a very long time.
Donald had also hinted at retirement, so some thought he could be losing that fire and competitive drive, but that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.
The Rams aren’t expected to be a contending team, but they looked like it in the first game of the campaign, and a lot of that had to do with their defense.
