New York Jets and New York Mets fans went through a wholesome moment on Wednesday night.
Shortly before the Mets hosted the Philadelphia Phillies, Jets WR Garrett Wilson threw out the first pitch to Mets 3B Brett Baty.
This was special not only because they’re two of the rising stars for two of the city’s beloved teams but also because they both came a long way to get to where they are nowadays.

Baty and Wilson were teammates in a Pop Warner football league when they were growing up in Texas, and they’ve been close friends ever since.
They both wore each other’s jersey during the ceremony, with Wilson jokingly shaking him off before throwing out that first pitch.
Fans got on their feet at Citi Field to shower the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in love and praise.
Wilson is coming off an impressive first season, hauling in 83 passes for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns despite the Jets’ subpar quarterback situation.
The Jets have now added Aaron Rodgers to that mix, so we can obviously expect Wilson to put up even more impressive numbers and be among the league’s leaders in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns in 2023.
Wilson has emerged as one of the most promising players in the league, and it’ll be Super Bowl-or-bust for Robert Saleh’s team this season after landing their four-time MVP.
And with most Mets fans also being Jets fans, you better believe this won’t be the last time they cheer and applaud him.
