The Philadelphia Eagles traded for Gardner Minshew before the season, starting rumors of if he would take over for Jalen Hurts in 2021.
He did get the start Sunday, but it was due to Hurts being out with an injury.
Minshew still did the most to seize the opportunity and show the coaching staff that he may be a legitimate option to start if Hurts shows further struggles in the passing game.
Minshew had two touchdowns and went 20/25 against a New York Jets defense just waiting for the season to end.
The 33-18 win may have rejuvenated Minshew’s career and the celebration after with his dad proves how much the win meant to him and his family.

Minshew, looking straight out of an 80s movie, can’t stop hugging and high-fiving his dad who made it out to the game in New Jersey.
A disclaimer for this video is to watch with the volume down because of the constant, annoying yelling in the background.
A Big Win For All Involved
The win in general gets the Eagles to 6-7 and a half-game back of the No. 7 seed in the NFC.
This marks a drastic turnaround after a 3-6 start, which is a testament to how rookie head coach Nick Sirianni made changes and let his team work to their strengths.
Specifically, he remembered he was allowed to use his running backs.
The team now heads into a bye week and returns with four divisional matchups on the schedule.
There should not be a quarterback competition to be had, as this is Hurts’ job when healthy.
Gardner Minshew was so fired up after the win. Check him out with Eagles fans.
He signed the mustache sign. And he says he sees the guy with the stache at all of his games!

But the win for Minshew proves he could be in line as a big name this offseason in the trade market.
A team may take a chance on him in a contract year to see if he can be a long-term starter.
He did show flashes of success as a rookie with Jacksonville, and that was as recent as 2019.
For now, the Eagles have two solid quarterback options and Minshew did his job to keep the team in the playoff race.
There is no margin for error once they resume play in Week 15, so it’s always possible “Minshew Mania” makes a heroic return if called upon.
