If we were inclined to believe Jacksonville Jaguars Coach Urban Meyer, Gardner Minshew was in contention for the starting quarterback job in Jacksonville.
Fast forward to what felt like a quick minute after Trevor Lawrence is named the Jaguars starter, and Minshew is traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

A close review of the Eagles quarterback depth chart has Minshew at QB3 behind starter Jalen Hurts and Joe Flacco.
Minshew seems overqualified for QB3 as the 25-year-old has played in 23 games and thrown for 5,537 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in his two seasons as a Jaguar.
He also likes to be on the field so some wonder if he will be happy in Philadelphia as QB3.

So far there are no issues.
Minshew is reportedly settling in as Philly’s QB3, and he is quite aware of the passionate fanbase too.

It helps that Minshew knew Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni before landing in Philly.
Minshew And Sirianni
Back in 2019, Minshew showed up in Indianapolis for a pre draft visit.
Sirianni was the offensive coordinator for the Colts at that time.
Minshew and Sirianni engaged in a competitive 1-on-1 basketball game of H-O-R-S-E.
Regarding the game, Minshew said:
“I had a button-up on, and I had to take that off because the game was getting a little too competitive…I was up and then we started talking ball, he was kind of distracting me. I took my shirt off and it didn’t help. He just continued to beat me.”
Minshew talked about the trade that happened in warp speed.
“It’s kind of been a whirlwind. As you know, I’m fired up to be here. I’m excited to be working with these guys. I’m just really looking forward to it…Talking with Coach Sirianni, and hearing him talk ball just gets me fired up. He’s passionate about it. He knows it. I’m really excited to work with him.”
With Jalen Hurts as the starter and Joe Flacco backing him up, it is unclear if we will see Minshew on the field at all in 2021.
