The San Francisco 49ers didn’t seem to miss Brock Purdy in Week 2.
With their starting quarterback sidelined by an injury, Mac Jones took the reins of the offense, and he completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s going to take Purdy’s job.
If anything, the team still has his back, and linebacker Fred Warner recently shared his feelings about the QB.
“Purdy is the man. I love Purdy with everything in my soul because this guy, I believe, can be the best in the game. He’s shown that already in this league in three years of playing,” Warner said.

Purdy has been a controversial subject for years.
Some believe he’s a system quarterback and questioned the Niners’ decision to give him a huge contract extension.
Others believe he’s earned the right to be their franchise quarterback.
Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between.
Whatever the case, the fact of the matter is that his teammates and people within the organization always believed in him.
He’s earned the respect of the locker room with his work ethic and determination to get better.
Some people will now try to make it a debate and push for Jones to take over if he continues to play well in Purdy’s absence, but that seems like a long shot.
Purdy might miss multiple weeks as he works his way back from a turf toe injury, but this will be his team whenever he’s back to full strength.
But they can feel confident in his backup holding down the fort for now.
