Fred VanVleet Has Honest Admission About His Future With Rockets

The 2024-25 season came to an end for the Houston Rockets on Sunday as they were taken down in Game 7 by the Golden State Warriors.

It was a disappointing conclusion for the Rockets, especially since they were the second seed in the West and so much better than they were just a year ago.

But when speaking with the press, Fred VanVleet made it clear that his team is doing exactly what it planned to.

He is still dedicated to this team and believes in what they can and will achieve.

“Obviously, I put my heart and soul into this, and this is where I want to be. It’s definitely a family situation. I’ve got a lot of love for our coaching staff, Rafael (Stone), the Fertitta family, what we set out to do when I had my free agent meeting two years ago, and we’re on that track. It was never a short-term vision. It was a long-term goal. We’re on track. We’re on schedule,” VanVleet said, per Michael Scotto.

In other words, VanVleet has no desire to leave his team and really thinks they still have what it takes to win it all soon.

The Rockets are an up-and-coming team: they are young, they haven’t been together for very long, and they need more experience.

Many people felt they were a soft second seed, saying they’d crumble under the pressure of a more proficient squad.

That is exactly what happened.

Even though the Rockets showed a lot of promise during this opening round, it just wasn’t enough for the experienced Warriors team.

VanVleet isn’t the only one thinking brighter days are ahead for the Rockets.

They might not have gone all the way this year, but this is a team that has plans to remain toward the top of the Western Conference for years to come.
