The New York Mets have not had the season that their fans have hoped for.
They have a record of 31-36 and are 9.5 games out of first place in the NL East.
One of the main reasons for their struggles has been their lack of offensive production.
They have been a bottom-half-of-the-league offense all year long.
The Mets rank 17th in runs scored, 21st in batting average, and 20th in OPS.
Also, it does not help matters that Pete Alonso injured his wrist and is out for multiple weeks.
But, the next player that needs to step up is Francisco Lindor.
The star shortstop has played like anything but a star this year.
According to SNY, Lindor knows he needs to play better and he expects to.
"I will do it. I will be better. I will be helping the team a lot more. It's just a matter of when. Hopefully, it's sooner rather than later."

Lindor is batting .213 this year with 12 home runs and 43 RBI.
He has seen his batting averages dip ever since he joined the Mets back in 2021.
The best he has batted in New York was .270 last year.
Lindor is still in the prime of his career (29 years old) and the Mets need him to turn it around.
Despite his lack of batting average, Lindor has still hit for power.
12 home runs for a shortstop is impressive and he is well on his way to another 25+ homer year.
There is still plenty of time left in the season, but the Mets are entering a point of no return.
If they do not turn it around soon this could end up being a lost season.
