The New Orleans Pelicans have been heavily invested in Zion Williamson, yet they haven’t gotten anything in return yet.
Of course, Zion has given them some solid play every now and then, but he’s been in the news for negative reasons more often than for his actual play.
At the end of the day, Williamson’s weight issues have been the centerpiece of all the talk around him, as he’s just never going to be healthy if he doesn’t lose all the extra weight.
With that in mind, former NBA player Austin Rivers talked on SiriusXM NBA Radio about how baffling it is that Zion is still out of shape.

He claimed that he didn’t mean his comments to sound like a shot at him because Zion is a great guy, and he wants him to do well, but he just can’t wrap his head around it.
Rivers wondered whether the Pelicans didn’t give him a nutritionist, trainers, and whatnot to make sure he stays in shape, stating that it’s actually hard for professional athletes, especially his size, to be out of shape.
Truth be told, it’s almost impossible to believe that Zion doesn’t have a full team focused solely on him 100% of the time.
If his team didn’t give him one, then his agent should, or even Nike, because of his apparel deal.
There’s something odd going on there.
Whether he really doesn’t care as some reports state, or his staff has yet to crack the code as to why he can’t seem to get in shape.
