The Los Angeles Lakers may have made a bit of a mistake when they fired Frank Vogel.
He had led them to an NBA championship not so long ago, and they just weren’t patient with him.
It seemed like Vogel had lost his locker room, with LeBron James reportedly snubbing him and ignoring him during huddles.
Hiring a rookie coach to pick up the pieces of the organization didn’t seem to be the wisest choice, but it was the choice they made nonetheless.
Darvin Ham’s tenure got off to a dreadful start, but they were able to turn things around after the trade deadline and wound up making it to the Western Conference Finals.
However, after another disappointing season, the team decided to pull the plug on him as well.
Now, with no feasible candidate in sight and after Dan Hurley turned them down, Lou Williams believes they made a mistake.
Talking on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” the former Sixth Man of the Year claimed that they should’ve been more patient with Ham, as he was just getting his coaching career started.

He’s right to a degree, as the Lakers have failed to keep a coach for at least three seasons over the past 13 years, and that’s simply not a winning formula.
On the other hand, it’s not like Ham did much to prove that he could be a coach, and he also seemed to have lost his players’ confidence.
Perhaps the Lakers’ mistake happened before, and they would’ve been much better with Vogel instead.
