As expected, the San Antonio Spurs have been must-watch television early in the season, and it all has to do with No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama.
‘Wemby’ has been up and down to start his career, but the production on both ends of the court has been there, especially on defense.
He’s gone to the Phoenix Suns’ house twice and has left the arena with a couple of wins, having some breath-taking plays over Kevin Durant, of all people.
That’s why, after watching him put up 38 on Frank Vogel’s team, former NBA champion Metta World Peace took to Twitter to share some bold predictions about the French big man.
The former Indiana Pacers star claimed that Wembanyama is potentially going to win 10 NBA championships, adding that he could win MVP this season.
He also stated that Wembanyama is a lock to be first-team All-Defense and first-team All-NBA this season and that he’s potentially the first player to win Most Improved as a rookie.
Wem is winning 10 titles potentially.
He might win MVP this year.
Definitely 1st team all defense and 1st team all nba.
Potentially the 1st player to be most improved as a rookie— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorld37) November 3, 2023
Needless to say, some of those predictions don’t make that much sense, such as the Most Improved one, but that’s just the good-old Metta.
Even so, Wemby does have a strong chance to make an all-defensive team this season, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him on both the All-Rookie and All-Defense first teams.
He could be a steady candidate to win Defensive Player of the Year and become the first rookie to take that distinction, not to mention being an obvious candidate to win Rookie of the Year.
As for the 10 titles, it would definitely be fun to watch, but let’s pull the brakes a little.
