The New England Patriots have had their fair share of struggles this season.
Watching Drake Maye has been exciting and rewarding, even though he’s been running for his life behind that struggling offensive line more often than not.
Other than that, there haven’t been a lot of positive things to say about the Patriots.
Of course, that was to be expected, as there wasn’t that much talent to begin with.
Then again, Jerod Mayo has also left plenty to be desired in his first year of running the show.
Even so, as questionable as his decision-making has been as a coach, former Patriots player Devin McCourty believes his biggest blunder has come off the field.
Talking to Karen Guregian (via Savage), McCourty criticized Mayo for not being able to control his emotions once he’s at the podium talking to the media.

Mayo has made some questionable statements since before the start of the season, and it seems like he hasn’t been able to help himself in the slightest.
His latest blunder came after the loss to the Arizona Cardinals when he seemingly threw offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt under the bus.
Mayo has been quick to backpedal and clarify his comments, but it’s always been too little, too late.
People want to see accountability, and as players, it’s hard to relate to someone who points the finger at everybody else but himself.
There are some rumblings about the Patriots’ head coaching position, and while the sample size is limited, there’s not much good to say about Mayo’s tenure.
