The Minnesota Vikings have been forced to ride the quarterback carousel during the 2023 NFL season as they look to recover from Kirk Cousins’ unfortunate Achilles injury.
Jaren Hall got the first crack to replace Cousins, but he suffered a concussion that led to head coach Kevin O’Connell turning to Joshua Dobbs.
Minnesota traded for Dobbs at the NFL trade deadline and he came in and instantly used his on-field magic to steer the team toward some wins.
However, Dobbs has fallen back down to earth in recent weeks and was even benched mid-game during the Vikings’ tilt with the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14.
Nick Mullens got the call off the bench and is slated to start in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals
David Carr is a fan of Mullens and believes that he’ll be a bigger boost to the offense than Dobbs was via NFL Total Access.
“Nick (Mullens) gives them the chance to really be productive,” Carr said.

Mullens managed to complete nine of his 13 passes for 83 yards against the Raiders, and as Carr points out in the video some of those throws were well-executed despite not coming off the bench cold.
Unlike Dobbs, Mullens has a history of being a successful starter in the league as he had a solid run in 2018 with the San Francisco 49ers.
With the Vikings fighting to hold onto one of the final Wild Card spots, O’Connell and the staff need to play the quarterback who gives them the best chance to win and right now that could very well be Mullens.
