The Jacksonville Jaguars were surprisingly good last season, closing out the regular season as one of the hottest teams in the AFC.
Everybody expected them to be much better under Doug Pederson than under Urban Meyer, but the bar wasn’t that high.
Now, former NFL player Gerald McCoy actually expects them to take another step forward, going as far as to say that they’ll be a top-3 team in the AFC in 2023.
“This year, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be a top 3 team in the AFC, and Trevor Lawrence will be a finalist for the MVP."

McCoy also believes that Trevor Lawrence will be an MVP candidate, which isn’t too far-fetched to think.
The former No. 1 pick showed glimpses of stellar play in his second year in the league, and he’ll have yet another weapon now that Calvin Ridley has officially been reinstated.
Also, the Jaguars have one of the easiest schedules in the league this season, and it’s not like their division is exactly impressive or scary this year.
Doug Pederson did wonders when it came to developing a winning culture within a franchise that had been used to losing for way too long.
Lawrence has the makings of a potential superstar, and he needed a QB-friendly coach that could help him and teach him the ropes of the game.
The Jaguars got a taste of playoff action last season, and you can’t blame them for losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Now, they could shock the world by taking it a step further, even though they still might not be on the same tier of other AFC powerhouses like the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, or Cincinnati Bengals.
