According to most insiders, the San Francisco 49ers should be the second-best team in the NFC next season and one of the best in the league as a whole.
However, former NFL star Plaxico Burress doesn’t seem to agree with any of those statements.
If anything, he believes analysts have overrated them, and he even thinks the Seattle Seahawks have a legitimate chance to win the NFC West Division this season.
In his latest appearance on “The Carton Show,” Burress talked about how we haven’t seen how QB Brock Purdy will respond to adversity, stating that the team could crumble if they lose two or three games in a row.
.@PlaxicoBurress: The 49ers are overrated
"The Seahawks have a chance to win the division. We haven't seen Brock Purdy go thru any adversity. What happens if the 49ers lose 2-3 games in a row, what's going to be his mentality moving forward?" pic.twitter.com/KABTDECiVm

Purdy went undefeated as a starter last season before suffering that elbow injury in the NFC Championship Game versus the Philadelphia Eagles, so it’s not like he’s had to fight against the current thus far.
Notably, a lot of that also had to do with the fact that the Niners’ often-stagnant offense looked much better with him under center, which is why he earned the undisputed QB1 job months ago.
The Niners have an elite defense, and it’s just a matter of time before they reach an agreement to get Nick Bosa back on the field.
They also have a stacked offense with more than enough weapons to get the job done, as they proved by winning games with Jimmy Garoppolo as their quarterback.
So, as overrated as they could be, it’s still hard to bet against them entering the season.
