The Las Vegas Raiders made a big statement with their latest hire.
Hiring Pete Carroll as their next head coach marked the first significant move of the Tom Brady era, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi, now with the UNC Tar Heels, believes Mark Davis has now bought himself some credibility.
Talking to Pat McAfee on his show, he called the 73-year-old head coach a future Hall of Famer, and he believes he’s going to turn the ever-struggling organization around.

Lombardi argued that Carroll is someone who knows how to get things done and what it takes to get to the highest of highs, and he was going to lay the blueprint for the organization.
The Raiders still have some moves to make to improve their roster, but this was definitely a significant step in the right direction.
Carroll is a Super Bowl-winning coach, and his defensive expertise will help build an identity in Sin City.
The Antonio Pierce era was short-lived and ended on a disappointing note after a strong start.
Now, with that big hire out of the way, the Raiders must focus on their quarterback situation.
There will be several veteran options available in free agency, and with Tom Brady making the calls and doing the recruiting, it will be easier for them.
They still have some work ahead, but for the first time in years, it appears they have a plan to return to contention.
