In the middle of June, there can be a lull in sports news, particularly in the NFL.
For the most part, teams aren’t making many key moves during this time, unless they orchestrate a trade.
Shows like Good Morning Football run all year long, despite a slow period during the dead of summer.
However, they recently had a conversation with Scott Pioli, who peeled back the curtain regarding free-agent visits.
“The most important thing that you can do with a marquee player,” Pioli said, “make sure you let them know who you are, and what you are.”

Pioli was a longtime NFL GM, spending significant time with the New England Patriots.
As teams begin to bring in a player of DeAndre Hopkins’ caliber, the Good Morning Football crew implored Pioli’s process from when he was a GM.
Pioli continued to reiterate that, to land a player like Hopkins, or Randy Moss during his time, it’s important to be honest with the player.
By letting players know where they stand, and how they’ll be used on the team, they can make the best possible decision about a new team.
Hopkins’ situation isn’t necessarily unique, as teams continue to evolve how they evaluate contracts, especially of aging players.
Pioli was one of the responsible parties for Moss’ presence in New England, linking up with Tom Brady.
As the Patriots await a visit from Hopkins, one question remains.
Are they the best possible team for Hopkins at this point in his career, especially since he doesn’t have a Super Bowl ring yet?
