The 2025 NFL Draft is nearly upon us, giving teams just a few more days to make their final decisions on their big boards, hoping they make the right decision when they’re on the clock.
It’s a strange year compared to the past few drafts, as there aren’t as many top-tier quarterbacks.
Experts are predicting there to be two, potentially three quarterbacks taken in the first round of the draft, a far cry from the six that were selected in 2024.
Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are the consensus No. 1 and No. 2 in this class, with many believing they’ll both be top-10 picks, if not top-5.
That opinion is not shared by everyone, however, as Eric Mangini provided an alternate viewpoint on “First Things First.”
Mangini, a former coach, indicated that the New Orleans Saints will not only go after Jaxson Dart in the first round, but that he’ll get drafted before Sanders, a take that was surprising to his colleagues on the show.
“I think Jaxson Dart goes to New Orleans.”

Dart is a player who’s gotten a lot of traction since his Pro Day and the Combine, and the Saints are certainly looking for a QB after their Derek Carr experiment hasn’t gone according to plan.
The Saints have several talented skill-position players who could use a player with an arm like Dart’s, so it will be interesting to see what they will do on draft night.
They currently hold the No. 9 overall pick, and if they’re high enough on Dart, they could take him there and hope he pans out as expected.
