Once the NBA Finals are officially over, with either the Denver Nuggets or Miami Heat coming out on top, the Memphis Grizzlies will be waiting to hear the verdict regarding the suspension of superstar point guard Ja Morant.
In order not to be a distraction for the Finals, NBA commissioner Adam Silver let it be known that a decision has been made on Morant’s status for the start of the 2023-24 season, but the announcement will be withheld until after a new champion has been crowned.
All signs point to the NBA coming down hard on Morant for his latest off-the-court incident involving flashing a gun on social media, with many believing he could be suspended for the first half of next season, if not more, considering it is a repeat offense.
Former NBA player Antoine Walker gave his opinion on the matter and believes it will be 40 games or more that Morant will be suspended, as he said on the I AM ATHLETE Podcast.

With Morant not learning his lesson from the backlash of the last time he flashed a gun on social media, Silver and company will definitely be sending a strong message with a lengthy suspension, which will prove costly to the superstar’s image as well as the season’s outcome for the Grizzlies.
If Morant ends up being suspended for 40 or more games, the Grizzlies might not even be considered a real threat in the Western Conference next season, as it remains to be seen how they handle not playing with the face of the franchise for that time.
