Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers seems to go through teammates quickly.
That is the point that former NBA player Eddie Johnson made while speaking to SiriusXM NBA Radio.
“Throughout his short career, Jimmy Butler came and left, Ben Simmons left, and now Harden wants to leave. So, how does that look on his resume?” Johnson asked.
Johnson said that each of those stars had their own reasons for leaving.
Butler wanted to play for the Heat, Simmons had mental health issues, and Harden has done this multiple times before but it still must have an effect on Embiid.
It isn’t his fault, Johnson claims, but he is definitely tied to their departures.

This is a valid point that others have brought up.
While Butler, Simmons, and Harden truly did have their own reasons for leaving beyond Embiid, it is curious that he couldn’t build a strong enough partnership to keep them around.
What is it about Embiid that prevents him from keeping players on the roster?
That will definitely be something that needs to be addressed in the future.
Embiid has made it clear that he wants to win the Finals.
To do that, he will need a strong and consistent team around him.
Many people believed that Harden gave Embiid his best chance of winning a championship.
But this looks like another partnership that will not last long.
So, Embiid needs to look to the future and try to find the right fit.
He may also need to ask himself what he can proactively do to keep supporting stars with him.
Embiid can have all the talent in the world but if he doesn’t have a reliable group around him then the 76ers aren’t going to go far.
