With training camp just around the corner, pressure is mounting for the Portland Trail Blazers to find a suitable deal for Damian Lillard.
So far, the Trail Blazers picked up negotiations again as the team looks to start the 2023-24 season with more clarity on the direction of the franchise.
The Miami Heat have long been the most heavily linked team to land the All-Star guard, but Portland has been resistant to taking back any of the proposed packages.
The Heat’s inability to gather the necessary assets to beef up their trade package has forced the Blazers to explore other potential options instead.
While those teams remain a mystery, there is surely plenty of interest in landing Lillard even if he ends up only being a rental.
Most reports have Lillard still intent on trying to make his way to South Beach, but former All-Star Kenny Anderson believes that he should expand his options and allow both sides to move on via SiriusXM NBA Radio.
“[I would tell Damian to] move on and let Chauncey Billups build his team the way he likes,” Anderson said.

It’s hard for Chauncey Billups to truly plan for the upcoming year knowing that his superstar could get shipped out at any moment.
The organization seems to understand this as well given the reports that they’re looking to make a deal before the start of camp.
Whatever team lands Lillard should be a sure-fire playoff team but if a contender like the Heat is able to get him then they would jump toward the front of the line for a shot at a title.
