The Los Angeles Lakers are in a position to replicate their recent deep playoff run as they managed to re-sign their core players and add valuable depth at nearly every position.
The Lakers should also be getting a fully healthy LeBron James back who was dealing with a foot injury throughout the second half of the 2022-23 season.
However, Los Angeles’ title hopes hinge on Anthony Davis who has battled injuries the past several seasons.
Davis fought through his own foot injury last season but was able to fight through it and lead the Lakers to several impressive playoff victories with his two-way performance.
At only 30 years old, Davis has a few more years of his prime left and should be able to stack more accolades and accomplishments onto his already impressive resume.
Davis was previously named to the NBA’s all-time top-75 list but people like Stan Van Gundy believe he shouldn’t be there over Dwight Howard via NBA Central.
“You cannot make a case that Anthony Davis had a better career than Dwight Howard, that’s absolutely ridiculous.”

While Davis’ place on the list should be secure, Van Gundy has a point that Howard should be on the top-75 list considering what he accomplished throughout his NBA career.
An eight-time All-Star, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and an NBA Champion, Howard is going to be a surefire Hall of Famer when he is eligible and has an argument over several players that are currently on the NBA’s list.
Perhaps some of the reasoning behind his exclusion is because of the bouncing around from team to team he did, but that shouldn’t discount the remarkable career he built.
