NFL players are elite athletes, and as such, they put their bodies to tests the average fit person wouldn’t be able to withstand.
It’s easy to judge them when they fail, but most people wouldn’t last a day in their shoes, let alone a single workout.
Even so, those players are measured by those standards, which is why David Montgomery recently became a bit of the butt of the joke on social media.
Dov Kleiman shared a now-viral video (via BS Motor City) featuring the new Detroit Lions running back losing the battle against a workout band and getting yanked and thrown onto the ground.
Needless to say, the fans had plenty to say about the footage, and it wasn’t encouraging.

Truth be told, the physical burden that professional football takes on the body is pretty much second to none.
That’s why teams seem to be so reluctant to give running backs big contracts or long-term deals, as they seem to run out of gas earlier than the average player.
Montgomery is coming off a solid season, and he’s still likely to be heavily involved in the Lions’ offense, even if they also have Jahmyr Gibbs looking to get several touches.
Lions fans better believe that there’s a chance he was gassed out after an intense workout, or maybe it just wasn’t his day today; it happens.
Otherwise, considering how ruthless the league has been with running backs, he may not even be on the field come Week 8 if that’s his current shape.
