It seems that wherever Patrick Beverley of the Chicago Bulls goes, controversy follows.
Beverley has a way of drumming up headlines, tweets, and hot takes.
He was at it again on Sunday night.
His Bulls took down the Los Angeles Lakers with an impressive win, even though LeBron James was back after 13 games away.
In the midst of the game, Beverley made his opinion of the Lakers well-known.
He made a gesture to analyst Shannon Sharpe suggesting that the Lakers quite literally stink.

As with everything Beverley does, this led to a lot of conversation online.
NBA writer Sean Barnard commented that this is all part of Beverley’s “revenge tour.”
It is true that he has been talking trash about his former team a lot and is focused on bringing them down.

Others felt that Beverley was being too much considering he only scored 10 points for the game.
All that gloating and just 10 points to show for it. What a child

A number of NBA fans were confused by Beverley’s sour opinion of his former team.
“I don’t understand why he’s acting like he has beef with LA,” one Twitter used said, noting that Beverley didn’t play well for the squad and, according to him, actually requested a trade.
I don’t understand why he’s acting like he has beef with LA. He was never good in any of the games he played for them and he requested a trade

Certain Lakers fans piled on their disdain for Beverley, even calling him a “clown.”

But some people suggested that Beverley does bring something to his teams, even if his box score doesn’t show it.
One fan said that Beverley has “changed the attitude of the Bulls and made them a real defensive force.”
People showing box scores like Pat Bev hasn’t changed the attitude of the Bulls and made them a real defensive force. I guess that doesn’t show up on the highlights …

Whether Beverley has or has not changed the Bulls for the better is up for debate and people will argue that a lot.
But one thing that no one can debate is that he will always state his opinion loudly and proudly.
