The Philadelphia 76ers were one team that has been quiet to start free agency.
They saw a few of their players sign elsewhere and not much noise was coming from their camp.
But they have finally secured their first free agent in former Chicago Bulls point guard Patrick Beverley.
According to Keith Pompey, the Sixers signed Beverley to a one-year deal.

The deal is expected to be for $3.2 million and Beverley adds to the needed guard depth on the Sixers bench.
After losing Shake Milton in free agency the 76ers needed to find a backup point guard.
That is exactly what Beverley can provide them.
Some people seem to think that Beverly is a good fit for Philadelphia and the city’s culture.
Philly is going to LOVE this man

Beverly is known for his defensive ability as he will not provide much on offense.
After losing Milton and Georges Niang, the Sixers need someone that can score the ball in the second unit.
This is noise we don’t need in Philly.

Beverly has always been an outspoken player and he will have an opportunity to be just that with the Sixers.
Many fans feel as if this move will not make much of a difference in the long run.
THIS DOES NOT MOVE THE NEEDLE

The Sixers have not had significant postseason success in recent years.
Maybe Beverly can be a veteran voice in the locker room that can help get the best out of his teammates.
Gotta change that culture in the lockerroom and use your voice to be a solid presence.

The Sixers still have work to do but this first signing is an interesting one.
