The Dallas Mavericks were among the best teams in the NBA last year.
They made it to the NBA Finals, only to lose to the Boston Celtics in five games.
While they played well enough to make it to the finals, it was evident that a piece was missing, and they needed a third star to complete it.
Enter Klay Thompson.
Thompson was brought in during the offseason to help take this team over the hump, stretching the floor with his elite shooting ability.
He’s only played one game for the Mavericks thus far, but it seems like the team is more than happy with his initial output.
As NBA Central noted on X, Thompson finished his debut with 22 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and six makes from beyond the three-point arc.

Fewer players in the NBA over the past several years have been better three-point shooters than Thompson, so he will keep getting the green light to fire them off.
Thompson’s performance excited fans on social media, who weren’t afraid to support one of the newest members on the roster.

Thompson’s career might have looked like it was waning when he left the Golden State Warriors, but this game might have brought it back to life.
The NBA season is long and grueling, and fans will need to keep that in mind when praising Thompson.
But, early returns on the Mavericks’ investment have looked great thus far, and fans hope he can keep this intensity up moving forward.
