At the NFL trade deadline, the San Francisco 49ers showed the league that they were serious about their Super Bowl hopes as they landed Chase Young from the Washington Commanders.
The 49ers shipped out a 2024 third-round pick to land Young who is finally healthy after dealing with multiple injuries throughout his young career.
San Francisco has dropped three consecutive games after winning their first five to start the 2023 NFL season, and adding Young is a sign that they felt the need to do something to inject some life into the team.
With Young on board, the 49ers now boast arguably the most talented and deepest defensive line in the NFL and should be a terror for opposing quarterbacks.
Young will have to wait until Week 10 to make his debut as San Francisco was on their bye week last week, but fans got their first look at the pass rusher in his new threads via the 49ers’ official team account.

In the short clip, Young is seen wearing the No. 92 in the team’s iconic red colorway and walking toward the team’s practice field.
Fans are understandably excited to see what Young can do in the Bay Area as he’s got a much better roster to work with versus what he had in Washington.
At 5-3, the 49ers are hoping that adding Young can get them back in the win column but they’ll need to play much better than they have been as they hit the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
